The protection, conservation and enhancement of the cultural and architectural heritage are of national interest.
They are an integral part of national policy to protect and enhance the environment.
Urban development plans and public or private subdivision plans take into account the imperatives of environmental protection in the choice of locations for business, residential and leisure areas.
Prior to their application, these plans must receive the mandatory opinion of the Administration responsible for the environment.
Urban areas must include land for recreational use and areas of green space, in a harmonious proportion determined by town planning documents and forestry law, taking into account, in particular, the surface areas available, the land use coefficient and the residential population.
Planning permission is granted with due regard to the presence of classified establishments and their impact on the environment, and may be refused or made subject to special requirements jointly drawn up by the authorities responsible for the environment and town planning, if the proposed may have harmful consequences for the environment.
