Approval to enter the forestry profession is granted by decree of the President of the Republic on the basis of a file containing the following documents:
a) For individuals:
– A stamped application specifying surname, first name, nationality, profession and place of residence;
– An extract from the criminal record less than three months old;
– A curriculum vitae.
b) In the case of a company:
– A stamped application specifying the company name and registered office;
– Articles of association;
– An extract from the director’s or manager’s criminal record less than three months old;
– The curriculum vitae of the director or manager.
In both cases, the application must specify the nature of the proposed activity, the planned investments and their financing plan, and the number and jobs of staff to be recruited.
The application must also include supporting documents:
– The technical knowledge of the person in charge of the forestry operation;
– Investments made or guarantees of those planned;
– Paid-up capital equivalent to at least 2% of planned investments, in line with projected operating accounts. However, for nationals, an initial capital of 5% may be accepted, provided that it is increased to at least 20% two years after the award of the license.
Any replacement of the person in charge of forestry operations is subject to prior authorization by the Minister in charge of forests.
When examining approval dossiers, the technical commission must take into account, among other things, the following criteria:
a) Technical knowledge of forestry;
b) Financial and material resources, with all supporting documents;
c) Capital, which must be equivalent to at least 20% of planned investments in accordance with projected operating accounts.
