A. ENERGY SECTOR
The organisation of the Water and Energy Sub-sector in the field of energy allows the stakeholders to be grouped according to their main activity:
- For Electricity
• The producers include: EDC, HYDROMEKIN, ENEO, NHPC, the GLOBELEG group, AER;
• The transporter: SONATREL
• The distributor: ENEO CAMEROON S.A.;
• The regulator: ARSEL;
• The Rural Electrification Agency: AER; • Partners: EDF, AGGREKO, SCATEC, HYDROMINE.
2. For Petroleum Products
• Production is carried out by SONARA;
• Storage is reserved to SCDP;
• Transport and distribution are handled by the various Marketers; • Quality control is carried out by several partners such as HYDRAC under the leadership of MINEE.
B- WATER SECTOR
The organisation of the Water and Energy Subsector in the water sector refers mainly
to the mobilisation and management of water resources.
The mobilisation of water resources in urban and peri-urban areas is reserved to CAMWATER, which is responsible for production, transport and distribution, while in rural areas it is the responsibility of the councils (for boreholes and mini drinking water supply networks) and the Ministry of Water and Energy for drinking water supply.
Water resources management refers to the various activities related to water use such as water quality control; water basin management; liquid sanitation etc.
In this area, MINEEs services in charge of resource management, the regional and local authorities, the United Nations system, NGOs and various development partner associations are involved.
