Accommodation establishments in Cameroon include:

They are classified in increasing categories according to the star system from one (1) to five (5).
ONE STAR HOTEL
Hotel where the building(s), furniture, fixtures, fittings and decoration are of current quality and in a good state of repair.
- Public Premises
Hotel entrance: independent if the operation includes a restaurant, bar or nightclub.
Reception hall: fitted out, lounge available to customers, with a minimum surface area (m2) of:
– For the first ten (10) rooms: 15m2;
– From eleven (11) to one hundred (100) rooms: 0.80m2 in addition to the above surface area;
– From one hundred and one (101) to four hundred (400) rooms: 0.40m2 in addition to the areas provided for in the two (2) headings above; etc.
Restaurant
Bar-auto-ventile
Public Sanitary Facilities: shared sanitary facilities for men and women comprising: English-style WC with high flush, hand wash basin with cold water, (1 WC for every forty (40) people who may be present at the restaurant, bar and all the hotel’s public services).
Entrance hall with the following services:
– Reception-concierge service;
– Lift(s) required in accordance with the nature and capacity of the establishment to access the 5th level of the building (4th floor).
Technical installations: Minimum electrical equipment in the common areas:
– Corridors and hallways: 5 w/m2;
– Common public areas: 10 w/m2;
– Minimum emergency lighting: 2 w/m2.
B. ROOMS
Minimum capacity:
– Number of rooms: ten (10)
Minimum ceiling height (metre):
– In the accommodation area: 2.50 m;
– In the entrance S.A.S: 2,30 m.
– Surface area of the room not including the shower room, the entrance S.A.S and the storage space: 10 m2 for a room with one (1) bed for two (2) people.
– Console washbasin in bedroom with cold water;
– Fixed mirror;
– Bidet with cold water;
– Toothbrush.
Sanitary facilities – W.C:
– English-style WC inside the shower room, with low flush and accessories.
Ventilation and air conditioning:
– Natural ventilation with double orientation.
Telephone:
– Call bell
Security:
– Identification number on each door.
Electrical installations:
– 15 w/m2 distributed between the bedside and a main source, with to-and-fro control in the bedrooms, and the S.A.S at the bedroom entrance;
– 15 w/m2 from a wall light above the washbasin of a minimum of 75w, possibly supplemented by another source for the shower room;
– 5 w/m2 for sanitary facilities;
– A shaver socket in the shower room.
Bedroom layout:
– One bedside table per occupant;
– A single bed with a minimum size of (cm): 80×190;
– A double bed with a minimum size of (cm): 160×200;
– Mattress;
– Suitcase rack;
– Seat (one (1) per person);
– Writing table etc.
Floor covering:
– Good quality insulating material.
Information in rooms
– Room rates and other charges must be clearly displayed in each room, together with a list of the services offered by the hotel; instructions in the event of fire; hotel rules for guests, including meal times and prices.
C. CUSTOMER SERVICES
Room service:
– Change of bed linen and towels twice (2) a week, as well as each time a guest leaves;
– Provision of soap, toilet paper and deodorant in the WC.
