The crèche or day care centre is placed under the authority of a director, appointed by:
- Decree of the Minister responsible for family promotion for crèches and day nurseries created by the State;
- Resolution of the deliberative body, for crèches and day-care centres created by legal entities other than the State;
- Decision of the promoter, for crèches and day-care centres created by individuals.
The Director coordinates all the institution’s activities.
As such, he is responsible for:
- Drawing up draft internal regulations, the Socio-pedagogical line, the action plan, the draft budget and activity reports for the crèche or drop-in day-care centre;
- Child protection and safety;
- Monitoring the application of internal regulations;
- Recruitment and dismissal of staff not responsible for childcare;
- Management of personnel and assets;
- Budget execution; etc.
The Director of the crèche or day nursery participates in the work of the Board of Directors in an advisory capacity.
The Management of the public crèche or day-care centre comprises:
- A Technical Unit made up of supervisory staff, i.e. social workers, educators, nursery nurses and auxiliary nursery nurses nursery staff;
- An Administrative and Financial Affairs Unit.
